Are liquid nutrients necessary for your Click & Grow plants?

Have you ever wondered whether you need to add liquid nutrients to your smart garden? If so, you’ll be happy to know that liquid nutrients are never necessary for any of our products!

Smart soil already contains all the food your plants need

Unlike hydroponic systems which require you to regularly add nutrients to the water, we use smart soil technology. Smart soil already contains all the food your plants need and automatically releases minerals according to their growth stages, temperature and how moist the soil is. While doing this, smart soil keeps nutrient levels optimal so your plants can thrive.

Using Click & Grow smart soil has many benefits. It does not require weekly calibration and you never need to add additional fertilizers to grow healthy plants, which makes for a stress-free growing experience. You’ll never need to purchase a pH or EC meter to constantly measure and calibrate to the correct level. Furthermore, smart soil contains no pesticides, fungicides, hormones or other harmful substances that could put your health at risk.

Every plant has special requirements for nutrients. For this reason, every Click & Grow plant pod has a custom made fertilizer scheme, taking into account the ‘lasts up to’ date of each plant. These schemes are constantly updated by our dedicated horticulture team. It’s important to remember that every plant lasts for a specific length of time and edible plants come with suggestions of when and how to harvest their yield.

What could happen if you added liquid fertilizer to your smart garden?

Adding liquid fertilizer to your smart garden may lead to several problems. If there are too many fertilizer salts in the soil and water, it may burn the plants, causing them to die back. Adding additional plant food does not always lead to higher yields or more flowers. By adding more fertilizer, you may end up with unhealthy produce. Additional fertilizer can lead to unnecessarily high levels of nitrate residuals which could cause several health problems. Furthermore, when you dispose of the used plant pods you would also be throwing out fertilizers that the plant hasn’t used and these can contaminate the environment.
