Celebrating The Estonian Roundtable for Development Cooperation

One of our mission’s at Click and Grow is to eventually provide free food to poverty stricken areas through the use of our indoor gardens and farms, creating sustainable cities and communities. Especially with world hunger on the rise (up 33 million people from last year) we love to see other organisations that share that goal with us and share many of the same ideals.

The Estonian Roundtable for Development Cooperation (AKÜ) has started working toward that goal. AKÜ Specialist Anni Jatsa says, “One third of the world's grown or produced food is wasted already during the production process. Reducing waste by 25% would save nearly 430 million people from hunger and slow down climate change. Food production and handling in the world brings about 3.3 billion tons of greenhouse gases (7% of the total) every year.” AKÜ wants to work to change that by supporting small scale farming, crop diversity to help keep farmland as viable as possible, and by giving more opportunity to female farmers. “If women farmers had the same opportunities as men, the number of hungry people in the world would fall by 150 million.”

Two years ago, the United Nations endorsed the Sustainable Development Goals for all countries, including Estonia. Since then eliminating global hunger by 2030 has become the main goal, but we can’t do it alone. We need the help of all of you and from different countries.
